The Third Alternative Musings

In this section you can enjoy reading over some of my thoughts on a variety of topics. I hope you find it inspiring.

MY DAILY ROUTINES

What kind of daily routine can support our endeavors towards personal growth?  Starting the day off in the right mindset is definitely one good idea, and some people start the day reading inspirational material; however, I believe growth happens when you not only read, but implement, suggestions into your life.  So, I will discuss some of the daily routines I have found helpful to keep me on track.

1)  Abraham Hicks’s energy alignment routine – Found in Esther and Jerry Hicks’s book Ask and it is Given, it has a focus on gratitude, is easy to implement, and takes very little time.  Basically, it asks that you spend a short time when you wake up (as well as before you go to sleep) finding things to appreciate.  After you bathe and eat, a 15-minute meditation is recommended to allow your vibrations to rise. (You can buy their Getting into the Vortex meditations as well as their books, if you like, from their website https://www.abraham-hickslawofattraction.com/.) After meditating, they recommend making a list of things you appreciate in your life.  No surprise that I have found this routine a winner.  What better way to start and end the day in a positive mindset. And, when I read some of the wise and inspiring “teachings of Abraham” during the day, as well, it helps keep me on track in between.

2) Marie Kondo’s daily routine https://konmari.com/ – Author of The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up and Spark Joy, Marie Kondo mentions doing a few simple things to make sure the energy is clean and flowing, such as opening the window, burning incense, and using a crystal and tuning fork, as well as washing away the day with an evening bath.  I do not yet have a crystal and tuning fork, but I have always enjoyed fresh air, and I only recently discovered I love burning incense, too.  I am still working on her tidying process, but I have learned a lot about myself from it, especially learning what does spark joy, and learning to release what does not.  Before starting the KonMari process, I did not realize the correlation between my inner state of being and my surroundings, so I am trying to be more aware of that, too.

3) Jim Kwik’s recommended morning routine – Jim Kwik is a brain expert who offers a program on MindValley (see https://www.mindvalley.com/) and has a suggestion of ten things he does every morning to promote brain health.  A few of his suggestions have become habit for me – such as making the bed, brushing my teeth with my non-dominant hand, and making sure to have some water when I get up.  I am always reading something – although not always in the morning – and I do practice mindfulness.  Other things I do only periodically (for example, journaling, taking a cold shower, or recording my dreams) or have only tried once or twice (such as “brain tea” or making brain-healthy smoothies), so I cannot say how effective the routine would be if I followed all of it daily; but I do enjoy what I have incorporated and it does feel beneficial.

4) FlyLady’s daily routines http://www.flylady.net/ – While this is more of a cleaning regimen rather than one that focuses on personal growth, I am including it because it is easier to be mindful in a clutter-free, happy environment than in a home filled with items calling to you to put them away.  As I often prefer to focus on other pursuits besides household cleaning or tidying up, I have found it helpful to periodically follow FlyLady’s daily routines.  Very thorough, and great for people who need a little structure or a cleaning nudge.

5) Vishen Lakhiani (founder of Mindvalley)’s morning routine https://www.mindvalley.com/ – Although I haven’t strictly followed the routine I saw Vishen describe in a video, I’ve enjoyed doing his 6-phase meditation, I exercise regularly (although only periodically include strength training, as he recommends), and I am always reading and learning.  I have not really tried intermittent fasting, but I try to start the day with something I feel is a healthier breakfast option.  Again, I cannot say how I would feel following this routine consistently for a period of time, but I have enjoyed including the elements I’ve mentioned, and I have enjoyed all of the Mindvalley Masterclasses I’ve watched.  (I have not yet joined their All Access, which allows you access to all of their content for a set fee.)

6) A Course in Miracles (ACIM) – While doing the 365 lessons in ACIM, the first thing I would do when I woke up is set the intention to align with the Love of God, and invite in the Spirit Realm to support me in my daily endeavors.  Then I would read over the daily ACIM lesson, and at my earliest opportunity do my morning meditation, often using the ACIM meditation on Beyond The Matrix’s YouTube channel, which was a fabulous support to the daily lesson.  (Find them here: https://www.youtube.com/@beyond.matrix).  In addition, I watched Trance Channel Tina Spalding’s Daily ACIM Lesson on YouTube with channeled insights from Jesus, which, not surprisingly, are brilliant: (https://www.youtube.com/@ChannelingJesusAnanda).  I practiced the lessons during the day, and I often included an evening meditation, as well, to end off the day.  I definitely recommend doing the ACIM lessons – especially with the above supports – if it calls to you.  It is a program specially designed to clarify the mind, and it is quite transformative.

These days, my daily routine varies, but I always begin by aligning myself with love and inviting in guidance from Above, followed by a meditation while burning incense or occasionally a candle. I end most days with either some energy healing, another meditation, or sometimes a qigong practice, and then it’s off to bed.   I hope you found some of this helpful or at least interesting and I wish you luck achieving the right balance in your day.
